# 12 Week 5 Rollyo

I find Rollyo useful in work where various references have to be made for a particular project. For my purposes where I have to put up a display for public viewing, being able to place various websites together under 1 search engine is a tremendous help. For example, nearly every year, I have to go to several websites to access info for a Chinese New Year display. From now onwards, I can easily go to my Rollyo search engine for all the info. Yay!!
You can view my searchroll for Chinese New Year in the link to the right.

#11 Library thing

Wow, never knew this existed! Gosh, imagine knowing how many (or little) other people have similar libraries or taste! I like the way each book in my library is connected to others in Library Thing. Tagging the books will come in very useful as I add more books to my virtual libary. Library Thing is quite easy to use.

#10 Week 5 Image Generator

I liked FD Toys. In it, I discovered generating different Posters, Badge Maker, various Covers, Mosaic Maker, Framer, an ever changing Wallpaper, an arty Palette generator, Bead Art, Billboard, Stream(an everlasting flow of digital photos) and adding comic style captions to photos. I created a Word Press Blog header of the 2 wedding bands.

Here's the link:

# 9

As usual, in line with my blog theme, here is another photo of the wedding, in addition to others posted here n there.

Well, have added newsfeed from Bloglines/News and Librarians Internet Index, amongst others. With the latter, it's an American website updated weekly and I like it as info is mainly summarised into a paragraph with their individual subject headings. Therefore, I can skim through them relatively quickly.
I just have to add this latest newsfeed:

USATODAY.com Books - Top Stories
USATODAY.com Books - Top Stories (USA TODAY)

Week 4 Thing 8

Well, all under control so far. Have created a link to my blogline a/c below and that's where you'll find all 21 feeds. Hard to believe I ended up subscribing to that many. RSS feeds are meant to save time but ... there's even more to catch up on now!
Have settled back very happily to my second day of being back to work after spending Labour w/end over in Sydney. I was given the choice of doing what I wanted to do. First thing arriving on Saturday morning was to (window)shop. I had not slept all night the Friday before. Fatigue took over in the late afternoon and I had to take a quick short nap so that I could keep myself awake to watch the musical Miss Saigon at the Lyric Theatre, after a delicious yet unusual set menu of food tasting at Essence Restaurant by Darling Harbour. At the end of the day, I was disappointed for not finding anything I liked while out shopping earlier. Sunday was at Taronga, the zoo with a view (of the city and the harbour and lovely blue waters). Cruised over by ferry and went up by cable car. Monday took us North past a few towns and beaches and creeks to Palm Beach. Stopped at Wahroonga Mall on the way home and - success - found a few things I really liked! Happiness. Satisfaction. And so, I've come home a very contented person.

Bloglines

http://www.bloglines.com/public/lwoty

Come and visit me (and all of my fellow bloggers)...

This is the toughest so far! Has taken up days of my time. And I'm not the only one. (Thank goodness). We're all struggling here. Am trying to subscribe to RSS feeds on each of us blogging out here, by the waters.

At last, With Princess Tianme's guidance, created this link to my blogline feeds.

What a time-saver - RSS feeds!

Discovery exercise 7

To me, being able to chat nearly daily with my 81 year old mother on the phone is the best thing in technoloy.
Quite often, she's alone and feels scared(only a little) at night even though she lives with my sister overseas. Since my sister and her husband retired, they've really caught the travel bug and are away alot and that's when mum starts to feel alittle lonely and that's when I come into the picture, with the PHONE - indispensable!

I must add that as of now, 3 other bloggers are busily typing in my links to SH bloggers so that they also can have a list of all of SH bloggers! Beena printed the list from my comment in her blog. We couldn't be any less connected.

Discovery exercise 6

Have taken a look at Flickr, Montagr, Trading Card Maker and LibrarianTrading Card...
and liked Trading Card Maker the best!

Take a look at my blog's trading card:

Social networking

Bebo was mentioned in the Libraries before Web 2.0 came along.
Now I must say Web 2.0 has given me the excuse and opportunity to go into Bebo, Facebook and MySpace for the very first time, knowing that support is out there at anytime.
Bebo doesn’t seem to be my kind of thing. Guess it’s a personal choice and would be excellent for say Mike Hogan in mikehoganworldtour, a young 25 yr old traveling the world and keeping in touch with his other young friends who all have online access .
With MySpace, the different categories can be quite mind-boggling.
However, I am very impressed with Facebook. Have signed up and downloaded several pictures which have not been made public. Downloading photos in Facebook is real quick and easy. Shall download more, time permitting and share them later.
